Delete your Rovealed account
Rovealed is the app and website for finding out what the things you own are, what they are worth and where to sell them (rovealed.com, and the Rovealed apps for Android and iPhone). You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, in a few minutes, without writing to anyone.
How to delete your account
- Sign in to Rovealed on the web. Any browser works, including the one on your phone.
- Open Settings, then Account.
- If you want a copy of what you have, press “Ask for my data” first. We email you when the file is ready, and it stays available for seven days. Deleting your account deletes the file too.
- Press “Delete my account”. Rovealed shows what will happen to each of your workspaces. Press Continue.
- We email a six-digit code to the address on your account. It works once, for ten minutes. Type it in.
- Press “Delete my account” again. You are signed out and the deletion starts. It cannot be undone. You can start a new account with the same email address whenever you like.
Open Settings › Account (you will be asked to sign in first).
On the iPhone app, open Account, then “Your data”. It opens these same steps in your browser, where you finish them.
On Android, use the steps above in your phone’s browser.
When Rovealed asks you to do something first
Nothing is deleted until these are sorted out, and the page tells you which applies:
- A workspace you share with other people, where you are the only owner and none of them is an admin: make one of them an admin (Settings, then Workspace & members), or remove them, then try again.
- A workspace of yours that is still connected to Shopify or eBay: disconnect it in Settings, then Connections, then try again.
- If you run the Rovealed site itself and are its last administrator: make someone else an administrator first.
What happens to your workspaces
- A workspace nobody else is in is deleted with your account: its items, photos and sales. Its public sale pages end and their photographs are taken off the web. People who wrote to your sales can no longer be answered, and their messages and addresses are deleted with the sale.
- A shared workspace where another owner remains, or where you are a member: you leave, and it stays with the other people.
- A shared workspace where you are the only owner and an admin is in it: it goes to the admin who has been there longest, who becomes its owner, and you leave.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in: your email address, name and photo, passkeys, two-step sign-in and every signed-in session. This happens the moment you confirm.
- Your workspaces, as described above, and everything in them.
- Your settings: notification choices and quiet hours, the phone number you gave for text alerts, and the devices that receive notifications.
- What you followed, wanted, saved or reported, your calendar feeds, your invitations, and any email still waiting to be sent to you.
- Your research chats, including the copy held by the AI service that ran them.
- Your data files made with “Ask for my data”.
- Your seat in other people’s family projects (for example when a relative invited you to share out a household): your marks, private notes and stories are deleted, and your name there becomes “Former family member”.
Everything under your sign-in is gone as soon as you confirm. The rest is deleted by an automatic clean-up that starts within about 15 minutes. It waits until the photographs on your public pages have left the web before it deletes anything else of that workspace, and the copy of a research chat held by our AI service is removed in a separate sweep that runs every six hours, so a full deletion can take a little longer than one run. Nothing is held back so that you could undo it.
What is kept, and for how long
- A record that your account was deleted: an anonymous number, the numbers of the workspaces that were closed, counts and times. It holds no name and no email address. It has no end date, because it names no one.
- Staff activity logs: the record of who did what in Rovealed’s own admin tools, and when. Any name or email address in it is blanked. It has no end date.
- What you added to a shared workspace you left: the items, sales and notes stay with the team, marked only with a number that no longer identifies anyone. Your own notices, wants, follows and settings in it are deleted.
- Messages you sent as a buyer to another seller: the conversation is closed and your name, address and other identifying details are cleared. The seller keeps the text of the message as their own record until it is removed, about 90 days after that seller’s sale closes. Messages not yet delivered are deleted.
- Reports about public sale pages and take-down requests: kept as Rovealed’s safety record. They name the page or the person who asked, not you as an account holder. They have no end date.
- Anonymous totals: how things sold, in numbers only. They are published only when at least 10 sales from at least 5 sellers sit behind them, so none can be traced to a person, and the individual records you contributed are found and deleted. Research notes about an item, and cost and usage totals, stay without any account attached.
- Backups: our database is backed up every day and the last 14 daily backups are kept. Data you deleted can sit in a backup for up to 14 days, then it is gone. We use backups only to recover from a failure.
We do not keep anything because a law requires it; Rovealed does not handle payments between buyers and sellers.
Deleting some of your data without deleting your account
You can remove the following inside Rovealed and keep your account. This is every way that exists today; there is no button for deleting a single item or a single photo of an item.
- Delete a whole team workspace (its owner only; your personal workspace can’t be deleted on its own). In Settings, then Workspace & members, press “Delete workspace” and type its name. Everyone’s access ends at once and invitations stop. It can’t be undone. Its items, photographs and history stay stored for 30 days and are then purged for good. This works on the web, on iPhone and on Android.
- Take a site listing down (on the web, on the listing’s review card, “Take it down”). The public page, its photographs and its search entries are removed within minutes. The item stays in your private inventory and the listing can’t be put back up.
- Delete a research chat (on the web, in Chats, “Delete this chat”). Its answers and findings are deleted, and so is the copy held by the AI service, at its next sweep (every six hours). Anything you already saved to an item stays on the item.
- Remove your profile photo (Settings, then Profile). We stop showing it. The original file stays stored until you delete your account.
- Remove your text-alert phone number (on the web, in Settings). It is deleted.
If you can’t sign in
Write to john@rovealed.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm it is you before we do.
